My heart sunk when I saw Buster come flying off the deck steps, taking a nose dive and landed hard. Doing yard work and Casey, the blonde lab mix neighbor dog, was running the perimeter of the fence. I dropped the weed eater and went straight to Buster scooting the dogs inside.
Casey leaves his yard as soon as his family drives away. He scopes out the area doing his business of sorts in each yard except for Sam & Jacob's. Sam and Jacob are mother/son beautiful Irish Setters. They warned him many time's prior to the day Casey climbed their fence and got in. I feared for his life and quickly called Casey's house with his Dad answering the phone to get him before something tragic could happen. It seemed forever for his Dad to walk down the hill. To this day, Casey keeps his distance but has gone after other dogs including Buster leaving him limping for several days.
Casey doesn't know his own strength. He had chewed his way out of his leash and kennel one morning. If he had a collar on, he didn't have his tags. He simply jumped our fence one early morning we were out, the sun hadn't risen yet when all of a sudden this big dog is in front of me chasing the dogs like chickens. My heart raced. A morning I won't forget and why I keep an eye on my kids and scan the area when we are out.
Keep your eye's out for predators of sorts and a close eye on your own.
Take care friends.
