Back pedal

'In for a look-over.'
Weekends are filled with events that interest us, but it is rare we head back into town once home from a Friday, this time of year.
Shorter days, limited walks on beautiful afternoons. A recent outing brought excitement and quick fall. Carlee back pedaled while lifting her to the ground. This heart dropped, our girl lay still for a few seconds, sat up with closed eyes. Limp along on bad hip brought us home. Concern of course. Car rides create anxiety, but its the scented trail she likes to sniff.
'Step up. Good Girl.'

V
et said, 'nothing broken, but sore and will be stiff.' Pain meds daily, 7 days for our fourteen year old girl. Meds give her no fear, pain is gone. Signs of a fall, they too will pass, in hopes.
'Its all clear.'

This year an experiment, a line across the top step into our home. With the leash, 'step up' works.

End of the day skies are as stunning as the beginning. Beautiful canvas. We are thankful, blessed and believe in prayer. Tranquil.

String of white into night.
With that in mind, please help animals that need help, we will do the same. After all, our dogs are rescues.

Be well friends.

New tricks.

Our vacuum is close to the floor tonight. Makes us wonder if her day is filled with rest.  We've been trimming, that face. Yikes. Our groomer is on maternity leave.  October, we trim Carlee's face and tummy, 'stand still please, nope, no walking, come back' I think we did well. Our bearded lady. A happy hound. See me! Treats were involved.

We have added a few items to Carlee's wardrobe, a hanky hangs like Buster's Christmas red bowtie. Think small cape. Constant scratching, this doesn't impede vision and scratching slows for a bit. Wardrobe. No malfunction.

Dark diminishes eyesight. We add the leash on the way out the door, giving assistance up the three steps into our home. Two weeks later, she waits. She stops to sniff and wait for her new friend in the yard, 'are you coming?'

This weekend, Christmas lights to deck railing. Simple string of white that levitate in the night.

Saturday December 7th is our last batches of dog treats baking for the year. We will sell out our inventory, starting again in January 2020. Since we are jumping ahead, mark your calendars, we will be at the American Legion on Saturday, January 25th from 10a-3p. Lunch will be sold and served. That, is always lovely.

Golly, its time for last out. Wrapping up, help those that cross your path that need help. We will do the same. Thanks to all that stopped by Zonta, always nice to see your fur in photos. Good night friends.

Hello November!

Isn't it lunch time?!
Change. It can be hard, with each time change, Carlee needs to keep routine. So we do. Sunday lunch wasn't same as Saturday. "In a minute." In the middle of exchanging treat sheets in and out of the oven.

Today we took down the work table. No more bumping into legs, she has the whole lamp light to herself. Its a favorite. But we added a box to the tower. We are getting ready for an upcoming two day local fair over the three day November weekend. It is hectic.

As with the past few years, early December we will stop baking dog treats for 2019. Inventory will be sold until its gone. We turn our attention to baking presents for family. If you have or haven't made candy, it takes time. Lots of it. Cook, cool, and wrap. Stand in line at the post office and mail.
Its true, there is no place like home for the holidays. We love the holidays, relaxing, enjoying, knowing we aren't preparing for another fair until January 2020. Day venue, great cause.

Until then, follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Updates will be there. Take care.

Autumn 2019

I can see from here.
Our home has seen the seasons, but we haven't fully grasped where the time has gone. Carlee has aged in joints, right hip hurts, vision diminished but she works a room like a vacuum. She. Is. The 'keeper of the treats'.

The Capital City Farmers' Market keeps us moving, meeting new dogs that drag their pawrents along. We continue to bake biscuits on weekends, dried in a few days, bag and out of a box on the floor we label, count and box. Then we page through our recipes of sweets and savors for #humantreats Have you followed us on Instagram yet?

For those that ask, sorry Betsy who was so excited about the Upside Down Pineapple Cake (thank you), we don't have set recipes for our #humantreats From Clara's Kitchen. Clara is Mom, she was super! A name seldom heard. Always beautiful. #CarleeClara

Because of the multiple dogs that visit, noses search for treats in hands, we don't have human treat samples, simply a health issue. But, we can point, give you a name and they can tell you about our baked goods for humans.

Bab's market season winds down for 2019, we will update on Facebook. Or follow Capital City Farmers' Market Pierre SD (because most states have a Capital City market). Each week details of who and what will be brought.

Thank you for choosing our treats and sharing with your furrends. We have started our twelfth year. Yes, 12!

As always, help those that cross your path. We do the same.
