So they look as if they have been riding with their heads out the window of a speeding car, yet they haven't stepped off the deck. The smells they must smell in these winds that travel miles to get to our place and pass through. I've read where a dog can breath in 100's of smells and individually pick them out, that is amazing!
What also amazes me is they can run through the yard and not once step on doo, but get human feet to walk across the yard to the gate and instantly a waft of doo rises. It's like tar, ya can't scrape the shoe across the grass expecting great things, it's in every crevice of the shoe bottom and it's nasty.
We have already sprayed Sevin around our perimeter and flower areas for the ever growing population of grasshoppers. I wonder if they aren't immune as we'll be spraying again soon and it may be another long Summer. Carlee, our hunter, pounces on them like a cat. I'm hoping the wind for the next several days blows them away, we don't wish them on anyone, but they need to go.
This wind drinks the water right out of the flowers, soon we'll go out and water what Buster hasn't covered. Stay cool, keep your pets shaded and watch for other dogs that might need help. Not all dogs are fortunate, it's up to us to help when other's won't.
Take care.
