It is the return of the meadowlark, his sweet song filled our air last week and Spring indeed arrived! Even in the chill, he sings to us and I tell him to find a warmer place then on the fence post. I couldn't see, but he may've been trading off feet, tucking one underneath for warmth. Our feathered friends, we gotta love'm.
We had a visitor the other morning, I really wasn't sure what was climbing over the fence, big and black, it looked like a larged winged something. The dogs were barking, barking, barking...it was 6:10am. My heart was beating rapidly, the "winged thing" walked into the light, a cat. I even had my glasses on. I began to call neighbors at 7:15am asking about "their" cat, no one had one missing. She was black with gray stripes and a small patch of white. When we returned outside, she was gone. She looked well cared for and maybe just looking for a snack.
Baking for Zonta Spring Fair coming April at the Pierre Mall, I'll give more info as I find it, til then, we have things to do and so do you.
Enjoy your week, look forward to the sunshine again!
ahh yes Barb on my evening walk the other night. It was dark enough to need the flashlight. I could hear some lone geese in the pasture and far off coyotes starting to howl. And there it was ..the clear sound of a meadow lark. Sounded awfully lonely on such a dark night and I dont typically hear them that late. First thought was "Spring" its gotta be a sign!! Sure hope it arrives here soon...I am getting awfully punchy waiting to see green grass sprout and starting to wonder if it ever will happen!?
