August heat

August, so soon, is already here. The heat climbed to 97 the first days of August and we had quite a storm August 3rd. The lightening was vertical and scary. We smelled smoke quickly as someone's prairie was smoldering. Much like ankle weights, walking from room to room shutting windows proved to be quite an activity as the dogs stay quite close.

Being calm for them, talking softly, sitting on the floor, holding them close and prayer helps us all in storms. Their previous homes kept the dogs outdoors much of the time with little protection, they are freakishly afraid of storms, not unlike some people. We're all afraid of something.

Keep your animals cool, plenty of water, shade, protection of dog houses or bringing them indoors. Protect them from the August heat, it climbs quickly during the day, keep them in mind.

Take care friends.
